he author has been playing poker for more than 50 years, having started with his paper route money as a stake. He now is retired and plays in the popker rooms in New Mexico. He starts with the flat premise that a player first has to beat the rake which in the case of his haunts is about $10 an hour (or a rather expensive way to spend an hour.) He explains where you have to be in your poker career to think of making a living or turning pro or moving up to a higher limit. Then he goes on to explain how he wins at the game using pre-flop and post-flop tactics. Burke says his regular opponents think he's very lucky to win so consistently. His book shows them where that "luck" comes from. 116 pages, paperbound, August 2003.
